What is it?
The Pueblo Chile Ride is a 24-mile unsupported mixed-surface ride (with a 9-mile option) starting in downtown Pueblo on Saturday, September 19th during the Pueblo Chile Festival. Spots are limited and participants must sign up using the (free) registration link on this page.

NOTE: THIS IS AN UNSUPPORTED RIDE. THERE WILL BE NO ON-COURSE AID, HYDRATION, EQUIPMENT, OR TRANSPORT PROVIDED.
Who:
The Chile Ride uses bike lanes, public roads, bike paths, gravel paths, and gravel roads. This is an at-your-own-risk ride. Riders should have prior experience confidently riding the distance of their choice. In general, we suggest participants are at least 10 years old with prior experience riding at least 10 miles. All youth must be accompanied by a guardian for the entire ride.
When:
Saturday, September 19th
Meet at 6:00 am
Depart at 6:15 am sharp
Where to meet:
Solar Roast Coffee downtown (226 N. Main street, Pueblo CO 81005 or Google Maps link here)
NOTE: Don’t use park in the spots immediately in front of their cafe! Leave those for their morning customers, y’all.
Where to Park:
We suggest parking in one of the downtown garages along Main Street. (114 S. Main Street Pueblo, CO or Google maps link here)
If using on-street parking, take note of whether there’s a time limit or fee for that spot.
Use common city-sense. Keep valuables, backpacks, purses out of sight.
What to bring
Helmet
Your bike (we strongly suggest you have sealant in your tires or tubes)
LIGHTS! It will be dark for the first 30 minutes or so of the ride!
Sunglasses
Water bottle (ideally two 20+oz bottles)
A snack for your ride
Appropriate clothing for the weather (check the low AND the high!)
Tools and spare tube if you typically have them
A lock if you want to park your bike at the fest

This ride is at-your-own-risk and requires (free) registration here.
Downtown Pueblo will be VERY BUSY later in the day due to Chile Fest. Expect to ride cautiously or walk your bike in the downtown later in the day.
Plan to hydrate!
Store your valuables out-of-sight in your vehicle.
Ride Options: 24 mile or 9 mile loops
~24 miles, ~800 ft elevation gain OR ~9 miles, ~300 ft elevation gain
10-12+ mph pace on either distance
Moderate terrain - includes gravel and dirt, public roads, and concrete multi-use trail

The plan:
6:15 am - depart: riders all depart Solar Roast Coffee together and ride ~3 miles in town to the Pueblo Chile Fest Hot Air Balloon Launch
~7:15 am - ride ~3.4 miles through town and along multi-use path, and regroup at Arkansas River. Check out the levee murals!
9-mile riders head downstream along Arkansas River Trail 1.6 miles, climb path up to Main Street, and follow Main street across river and through downtown back to Solar Roast Coffee
24-mile riders head upstream along Arkansas River Trail
