Bring the pop to your shop.

Or your cafe. Or your bar. Or your birthday party. Wherever it is, it’s gonna be fun.

But no pressure.

The Pop-Up format lets you host an International Bicycle Flat Tire World Series (IBFTWS) event at your own place with your own equipment. We want everyone to be able to get in on the camaraderie and competition…even if you can’t make it to one of our sanctioned Series events.

Repair knowledge

is for everyone.

Hosting a Pop-Up can help folks better connect to repair knowledge and to their own confidence and capabilities. Knowledge is power.

How does a Flat Tire Pop-Up work?

You host. You lead. You got this.

  • We provide the rules, regulations, and ranking.

  • You host. You lead. You got this.

  • You provide equipment that meets our (broad) Pop-Up regulations.

You don’t need much to make the Flat Tire Pop-Up magic happen. You’ll need a venue, a leader or crew that’s comfortable with teaching folks flat-fixin’ basics as well as judging competitors.

You’ll need a pump, tubes, a tire & wheel, and a timer. We made the regulations pretty broad. It should be easy to get ahold of the right stuff…but the rules and regulations help keep the competition fair and fun.

Are Pop-Up participants are eligible for the Championship?

YES. Pop-Up finisher times will be featured in results so folks can see where they sit vs finishers in Sanctioned Series events. Pop-Up finishers will also be eligible for the invitational IBFTWS Championship at Grassroots Gravel in Pueblo, CO. It’s a big deal.

Are the rules the same for all events?

There are slight variations in layout with the Pop-Up format, but rules are effectively the same for all events. Details further down the page.

How can I get started on hosting a Pop-Up?

Contact us! Once you’ve confirmed your date and details with us, we’ll get it up on the series page. Then you go to town spreading the word and getting folks to join in the party. You’ll be the competition official. And make sure you’re teachin’ folks new things. That’s half the joy of the Flat Tire World Series.
